Westox products are sold in 46 countries and have been used on many historic buildings, including the Duomo in Pisa, St Marks’s Basilica and 15th century Palazzo Minotto in Venice, as well as the Governor’s Mansion, Suffolk House and the Old Court House in Malaysia. In Australia, Westox products have been used on Elizabeth Farm (c 1974) Australia’s oldest surviving European building, Fort Denison and Port Arthur to name just a few.
Westox is the creator and manufacturer of the world renowned Cocoon desalination poultice. Cocoon uses innovative technology to draw salt from masonry thereby halting contamination and deterioration caused by rising damp
The company is recognised as a leader in the field of desalination and salt contamination rectification. Westox’s managing director and founder, Barrie Cooper regularly presents papers and speaks at many heritage conferences around the world.
Westox was founded in 1976, under the name of Westlegate and is based in the Sydney suburb of Revesby. The company is responsible for the successful introduction and wide-spread use of chemical damp proof course systems and have also developed a number of restoration methods. These include optimising the ceiling reinstatement system for houses with wood lath ceilings.
